Congratulations to our regular anglers Phil Adams, Dave Waters, Danny Jacobson, Patrick Gray, Mike Stockley and a lovely welcome from Scotland to Jason Walls who took some fishing. Jason found fame a few years back for his magnificent brace of silver teens in a newspaper winning a monthly fishing prize!
We don’t always get all the pictures of the fish and I’ll pop some in here that I rather liked. The river had excellent runs the fish counter being testament to the sea trout and salmon that surged in. Many thanks again to the EA’s Tyne scientist Morton.
July per day 335,895,312,310,238,461,406,324,258,938!! and on and on!!
Total (a whole week was lost as the counter came free from its mounting!)
So 7,511* who knows the real total but a serious run of sea trout and salmon.
Phils team had 5 sea trout and two salmon early July. Grey Court featured too with a couple of beauties. The sea trout were all over 5lb and the salmon 6lb and 10lb each. Fish were also lost and plenty were showing as the charged upriver.
Danny, Eddie and Decker had a few days where the river unfortunately was unsettled and fish were off the boil. They had a great time with good food and wines I heard..
Patrick Grey and guests arrived in the middle of the month with great hopes! the river had water and fish were moving every day. Phil Adams caught a lovely fresh one on the Hut on a Mairi Shrimp, the river was up and down unfortunately. Saturday the river came up and that as they say was that!!
Dave Waters a regular enjoyed a few days with guests they were met with big waters on the Sunday settling into their accommodation. The river did settle ish! it was rather up and down in what became a wet wet wet Summer. His guests managed some sport no pics unfortunately. The July catches were about sea trout a little up on the salmon. Good sized fish in both species.
Mike Stockley , Arthur and John had a terrific trip with 3 fish up to nearly 15lb. The river was unsettled but some takers were around including some lost. July concluded with around 12 salmon 14 sea trout if memory serves there may be one or two to add. one feels if the river had been less too and fro catches would have been way better….well done everyone!

superb Tyne Summer catch
